Check out this weeks video to see what vegan food I found shopping at the only grocery store in Avalon.

Trader Joe's vs 365
Vegan Holiday Roast

The 365 Plant-Based Roast was a nice new addition to the vegan holiday line-up. Trader Joe's was my favorite last year and I wanted to try the two back to back. Here's what I found.

  1. The Trader Joe's Roast is bigger, and comes with more gravy.

  2. I preferred the gravy from the 365 Roast, but preferred the Trader Joe's Roast more.

  3. Trader Joe's does a better job of creating a similar texture to what omnivores are used to eating on Thanksgiving.

  4. 365 cooks quicker because it's smaller, and less dense.

Watch this weeks video for more! Happy Thankgiving!

Trader Joe's Vegan
Pumpkin Products

Not every single pumpkin item available at Trader Joe's is vegan, but I found as many plant-based options as I could at Trader Joe's recently to make this weeks video! There's definitely more sweet than savory available, but I guess thats the nature of pumpkin season.

There are some items like the bread mix, and the cookie mix which will require you to provide a vegan egg alternative, and your favorite plant based milk and oil. My usual vegan egg alternative for baking is a *chia seed egg.

Some non-pumpkin finds also include the fall corn chips, and the ghost & bat shaped potato chips. The Chai was also a delicious fall find that didn't involve pumpkin.

They also have pumpkin coffee available in stores, and a variety of other fall beverages, including pumpkin ale. Stay tuned for more vegan seasonal items available near you!

* Chia Seed Egg Recipe
1 tbsp chia seeds (ground or whole) + 2 tbsp of water = 1 medium egg. Mix evenly and let set for 3 minutes prior to mixing into recipe.

a mashed up banana will also serve as an excellent egg alternative if you don't have chia seeds.

Vegan Halloween Treats

This weeks video is a breakdown of two simple vegan Halloween treats you can make at home. My first recipe is dipped strawberries, and the 2nd recipe is Mini Mummy wraps. I've listed links to some of the products I used below.

Dipped Strawberries - I used No Whey foods vegan white chocolate for the majority of my strawberries, also utilizing their milk chocolate style vegan chocolate as well. I melted everything on my Hot Logic Mini. If you plan to decorate your strawberries with faces, I recommend chilling the first layer for 20-30 minutes prior to adding additional layers.

I changed the color of the white chocolate to orange by adding pumpkin spice, and tumeric. I also created green chocolate by mixing in matcha and spirulina. Chill again for another 20-30 minutes before serving.

Mini Mummy Wraps - If you've ever made pigs in a blanket, you can make this dish. I usually use canned crescent rolls for this, but you can use any vegan dough. I used Field Roast vegan breakfast sausages for this.Space even and bake until golden brown. Meanwhile you can make this simple sauce.

All you need is 1 jar of Marinara sauce, and 1 pack of Daiya Foods zesty cheddar sauce. Pour the entire jar into a circular bowl. Cut open a small corner of the Diaya Foods sauce pack. Draw 3-4 rings with a dot in the center, and use the butt of a utensil to pull 5-6 points from the center outward. If you still have cheese sauce left over, you can retrace your lines to emphasize your design.

Thanks for watching this weeks video! Stay tuned for more coming soon! And don't forget to follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for more cheezy shenanigans.

Dunkin' Donuts & Beyond Meat

Dunkin' Donuts recently adopted the Beyond Meat patty as a vegetarian option for their breakfast sandwich menu. This vegetarian sandwich can easily be made vegan by requesting no egg & no cheese. There are some other modifications you can make to this item like requesting the Beyond patty on a bagel instead of an english muffin. Half priced, half sized Beyond wraps are an option as well. Oatmeal is also available.

Don't forget about the coffee! Non-dairy milks are available and may vary by location/availability. Oat milk and almond milk are my favorite options at Dunkin'. Watch this weeks video for more information on what's vegan at Dunkin' Donuts.

Delivery is available through Doordash, Postmates, and Grubhub. Follow the delivery links below for a Vegan Cheeshead discount.

Del Taco ft. Beyond Meat | Vegan Cheesehead

Del Taco has changed the game for vegan fast food by introducing Beyond Meat to the menu. With a variety of modifiable vegetarian choices, and a default vegan option, Del Taco is proving that the public want's more meat-free choices.

I love the Beyond Epic Cali Burrito, just make sure to remove the sour cream to make it all vegan. Beyond Meat is likely to redefine fast-food as we know it.

Watch this weeks video to see what I ordered and how to make things vegan. Don't forget the Macho Fries, it's the perfect thing to go with your taco's and burritos.

White Castle | Las Vegas, NV

There are 599 United States White Castle locations, but they can be difficult to find depending on where you're located.

Of all the places to find a White Castle or two, Las Vegas is definitely an appropriate place. I cannot think of a better food for a city known for it's indulgence. There is a location on Fremont Street, but this weeks video was filmed at the other location on the ground floor of the Casino Royale.

White Castle offers two plant-based slider options. The veggie slider is all vegan, and the plant-based Impossible patty is also available. I'm old school and prefer the veggie slider.

Watercourse Foods | Denver, CO

Watercourse Foods takes its name from the philosophy 'The Watercourse Way.' Their cuisine could be described as high-end vegan comfort food. Watch this weeks video below to see what I mean.

You can taste the fact that the chefs here focus on local ingredients, and preservatives are frowned upon in their kitchen. Even if you splurge and order more than you can eat, like I did, at least you will know your food is made from quality & cholesterol free ingredients.

I loved the food here and the next time I visit Denver I will be visiting their sister businesses City, O' City, and Make Believe Bakery. I was thankful for a place to warm up from the Colorado cold, they just happen to also serve the best pasta I've ever had.

Vegan Holiday Nog Tasting

Every Holiday season there are more dairy-free and vegan beverages available to help keep traditions alive without the unnecessary cholesterol or animal cruelty. Keep in mind as you watch this video that these are only a small sample of what's available.

I tried some traditional nogs, as well as a coffee-spiked peppermint chocolate drink, and pumpkin spice beverage. Watch this weeks video to see which ones were my favorite!

Don't be afraid to ask for products by name, as this will encourage your favorite stores to order products they may have not known about. Also check out the websites of the products I tried in this video below.

Hard Times Cafe | Minneapolis, MN

Brace yourself for a refreshingly alternative take on comfort food. Hard Times Cafe is an all vegetarian, employee owned cafe in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their atmosphere is casual and eccentric, with paintings for sale from local artists. When you arrive you'll have to order at the front counter, write your order and name on a slip of paper and they call out your name when the food is ready. They are cash only, so come prepared.

WiFi is available so bring your electronics. The menu states which items can be made vegan, but don't forget to write "vegan" on your order slip. Hard Times is open 22 hours a day, closing only between 4 am and 6 am.

I'm extremely picky about veggie burgers and Hard Times is now in my top 5. They are known for their all day breakfast. Watch this weeks video to learn more!

Foamation Inc. Cheesehead Factory

Milwaukee Wisconsin is the birth place of the foam cheese wedge hat. Ralph Bruno was sick of rival fans using the term "cheesehead" in a derogatory tone, so he decided to embrace the nickname.

Ralph carved the first Cheesehead hat out of his mothers couch cushion and wore it to a Milwaukee Brewer's game. Now you can visit the original Cheesehead hat, in the factory in Milwaukee, and get a full tour. You can even buy some of your own Cheesehead gear before you depart.

What's Your Favorite Vegan Cheese?

Even within the vegan community there is still a lot of dispute of which vegan cheese is king. It also depends on what you hope to use the cheese for. Cheese for pizza is different than the cheese you might use for olives, cheese and wine.

If you've never had vegan cheese before, there's never been more options available. Check out the list below for a small sample of whats available.

Dodger Stadium Vegan Treats

Dodgers Stadium lives in one of the most vegan friendly cities in the United States, so it would make sense that they would be continually improving their vegan options. Since I filmed this video, I'm certain they have already started trying out new vegan options for the upcoming season of Dodgers Baseball.

I found nacho's, vegan Dodger dogs, and some other accidental vegan snacks. Tickets games are generally relatively cheap, especially if you're not looking for a specific seat. Check out this weeks video for more!

Sports stadiums are seeing a demand for more plant-based options, and many athletes are also realizing the benefits of going vegan. Check out The Game Changers on Netflix for more on this.

Strange Town in Milwaukee, WI is a diamond in the rough. 'The Dairy State' may not have a ton of vegan options, but this place is amazing. Each dish is hand-crafted and take inspiration from all over the world. I'm told that a large portion of regular customers are non-vegans who simply want to grab a drink.

Along with your standard full bar, you can also order CBD Kombucha. Certain dishes are a little spicy, but the menu does a great job of pointing out which ones. I personally love spicy so this helped me decide what to order.

This is nuts! I'm still amazed at how well this technology performed because I picked up and put down so many products just to show off in this weeks video. I wonder how long before we start seeing this pop up in more stores than just this location.

Blaze Pizza is a build-your-own custom pizza chain with a minimal wait. They offer vegan options including vegan cheese. There are around 300 Blaze pizza locations.

As a part of my efforts to explore all the vegan options on Universal CityWalk, I found this wonderful option to throw in the mix.

Pizza is the perfect food and having it ready in almost the same time as a sandwich from Subway is extremely convenient. The selection of veggie toppings made it difficult not to get some of everything. Two types of olives, two types of garlic... My mouth is watering as I write this. Ben & Jerry's | Universal City, CA

Ben & Jerry's as a company has been a strong voices for recent social injustice. They also are creating new dairy-free flavors all the time. I went to their store-front location on Universal CityWalk when they first launched their dairy-free options. Now I must resist the urge to buy a pint, or 5, of dairy-free ice cream every time I visit my local Target.

Ben & Jerry are an iconic duo, and the flavors in their uniquely named products are proof of this. Let's keep the dairy-free momentum going; I want to see dairy-free versions of each flavor in the catalogue. Watch this weeks video to see what's available, and visit the links below to learn more.

IKEA Veggie Balls | IKEA Food Services

There has been a recent trend of plant-based meat substitutes that look like meat. Ikea has taken on their own unique take on the iconic Swedish meat-balls, and created the veggie ball out of chickpeas, green peas, carrots, bell peppers, corn and kale. There are clearly visible chunks of vegetables in these veggie balls, and in this weeks video you can see what the meal includes.

I also discovered some accidental vegan snacks, as well as my first sequel video IKEA Veggie Dogs, which were introduced after the veggie balls.

IKEA Veggie Dogs | IKEA Food Services

I'm back at IKEA, and this time we're eating a veganized version of an American classic; a veggie dog. IKEA does not try to imitate the flavor or texture of meat, they have created a hot dog style link made with vegetable proteins. You will see visible chunks of vegetables in each dog.

“People eat meat and think they will become strong as an ox, forgetting that the ox eats grass.”

― Pino Caruso

It's crazy to me to think that we still live in a world where people are convinced that we need meat to get protein.

The dogs come dressed with fried onions, red cabbage, and mustard. These dogs are only available at the cafe between the check out and the exit.

Voodoo Doughnuts | Universal City, CA

Universal CityWalk is a great location to grab some delicious doughnuts before or after visiting Universal Studios Hollywood. Not everything here is vegan, but they have an excellent vegan menu. You can generally see these options clearly marked and on display in their rotating display cases at either register.

Coffee is also available to get your morning going at full speed. I recommend the cream filled vegan doughnuts as well as the Vegan 'Voodoo' which comes complete with a pretzel rod sticking out of his heart.

You can order individual doughnuts, or order a dozen and make some new friends. Make sure to get the vegan options so nobody at the office feels left out! If you really want to show your employees you love them to death, you can fill a coffin with doughnuts for larger events.

Starbucks Reserve Roastery | Seattle, WA

I spent 8 years as a trainer and coffee master at Starbucks. In my time there I learned a lot about coffee and customer service.

The Reserve Roastery in Seattle, WA is unlike any Starbucks you've ever seen. Before I even stepped in the door, everyone described it...

"Like if Willy Wonka was in the coffee business."

You'll have to watch this weeks video to see what exactly that means. Ronald's Donuts | Las Vegas, NV

Ronald's Donuts in Las Vegas is the culinary equivalent of a cult classic in cinema. Whenever vegans talk to other vegans about a trip to Las Vegas, Ronald's is almost always mentioned.

And despite all this hype, They're not even 100% vegan. About 2/3 of their donuts are vegan, and if you ask, they also have non-dairy & vegan creamer for your coffee.

This place may be a little out the way if you're staying on the strip, but it's totally worth the journey to the tiny strip mall where Ronald's is located. There's always so much amazing food available at this event, so it was an honor to cook among so many other talented vegan chefs. Follow the links below for more information on the future events and my other videos from other years.

Virtual Reality | iAnimal 360 | VegFest LA

My first time tryin virtual realty tech, more commonly known as VR was at VegFest Los Angeles where the folks at Animal Equality allow users to experience what it's like to be a pig on the slaughter floor.

At first you're probably wondering why would anyone subject themselves to that? The better question is why should our dietary choices subject any living being to that?

I grew up eating pork chops, steaks, and numerous types of animal flesh. Earthlings made a big impact on my decision to stop eating meat. Videos like this will also help you learn the facts about where you food comes from.

The best part of this this experience is knowing that on the other side, there is an entire community of people who want to help you learn a new way of life that doesn't contribute to the cruelty of animal agriculture or factory farming.

Please check out my other videos to see how delicious a vegan diet can be. Humans have evolved past the need for meat. Become a part of the future and leave cruelty in the past.
